Joel Campos, Chairman of the Republican Party of Stanislaus County, has lived in Modesto for most of his life. Joel graduated from Thomas Downey High School in 2007. He then attended Modesto Junior College and CSU Stanislaus, graduating in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in geography. After graduating from CSU Stanislaus, Joel went on to earn a master of urban planning degree from San Jose State University.
In 2012, Joel joined the California Army National Guard (CARNG). Although formally a water treatment specialist, Joel has served in many roles in the CARNG, including 3 years on the state Honor Guard team, and an Iraq deployment as a Chinook helicopter crewmember. He was promoted through the ranks and currently serves as the First Sergeant of a national guard unit in Benicia, CA.
In his civilian life, Joel works as an associate regional planner at the San Joaquin Council of Governments in downtown Stockton. He enjoys helping the local jurisdictions plan, fund, and implement transportation projects.
Joel also serves on the Stanislaus Union School District Measure Y Bond Oversight Committee, and on Modesto's Equity Commission.
After 3 years as a member and ex-officio, in January 2023, Joel was voted in as the Chair of the Republican Party of Stanislaus County. Joel is excited to serve in this new role, and looks forward to doing what he can to get Republicans elected to office
